Parasit ini mempunyai pengaruh memfeminisasi inangnya, yaitu mengubah individu jantan menjadi individu berfenotip betina. Efisiensi dari transmisi parasit ke inang baru adalah faktor kunci untuk mempertahankan keberadaan parasit di dalam inang. Parasit yang ditransmisikan secara transovarial harus mengatasi dua bottleneck supaya menjamin survival mereka melalui generasi inang berturut-turut. Pertama, parasit harus hadir pada telur, kedua, parasit harus menemukan jalan untuk masuk ke jaringan germline dari inang terinfeksi. Memanfaatkan matematika sebagai alat, tulisan ini akan membahas mekanisme transmisi parasit ke germline dari inang terinfeksi melalui beberapa model matematika.
