Task Number 42. Defanisi\u00a0biorefinery\u00a0 yang dirumuskan\u00a0 terbukti paling komprehensif dibandingkun definisi lain yang tersedia di literatur. Pendekutan pengklasifikasian biorefinery yang diajukan pun telah mempertimbangkan empat feature utama dari biorefinery, yaitu platform, produk, bahan baku dan proses. Panduan yang sistematis dinilai perlu ada untuk mendorong pengembangan\u00a0biorefinery yang sustainable. Pengembangan biorefinery saat ini cenderung berbasis kepah kebutuhan untuk mensubstitusi produk oil refinery. Pengembangan proses-proses dalarn biorefinery pun menyerupai pengembangan proses dalam oil refinery. Namun demikian, perbedaan karakteristik bahan baku memberi tanfangan Repada sintesis biorefinery. Tantangan berupa pemilihan bahan bah dan produk disarankan untuk dihadapi dengan penggunaan parameter-parameter pembanding, seperti Chemical Value, Fuel Value, dan Componenf Value; sedangkan pemilihan jenis proses dm urutan proses yang sistematis dapat dirintir dengan adanya pemetaan technology platform terhadap Randungan bahan baku. Pemetaan tersebut akan menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang berarti antara proses-proses untuk energy-driven\u00a0biorefinery\u00a0 dan material driven biorefineries.
