PRAMAKARSA WON THE 7TH CHEM E CAR
          COMPETITION

Chemical Engineering Car Competition (Chem E
Car Competition) is a chemical-car race in which only
institutions building chemical cars, prototypes of mini cars
run based on chemical reactions which either produce
electricity (electrochemical) or pressurized gas, are invited
to compete. In Indonesia, an international Chem E Car
Competition is held annually by Institut Teknologi Surabaya
(ITS). To join the international race, at the end of 2017 a
group of Itenas Chemical Engineering students formed
a team dubbed The Veloxymic. The solid team consisted
of eleven students from class of 2016. They were Imat Nur
Alim, Nugroho Sentoso, Noverian Ruzkia Syardi, M Luthfie
Zulkarnaen, Jeremia Nico Lanmarito, Frans Arapenta, M Alif
Akbar Basuki, Fakhrurrazi Waridi Sidqi, R Juniar Syarifudin,
Rica Dwi Sandika and Nurul Ratna Anisa. Guided by Jono
Suhartono, Ph.D, the head of Itenas Chemical Engineering
Department and several other lecturers of the department,
The Veloxymic built their first chemical car called Pramakarsa
to take part in the 7th Indonesian Chemical Engineering Car
Competititon which was held in 2018 in Surabaya. As the
prototype of Itenas Chemical Engineering’ car, Pramakarsa
was equipped with a reactor that processes the compounds
needed to produce high pressure gas. This kind of gas is
capable of moving piston to make the chemical car run.
All the team’s hard work and effort paid off in the end.
The Veloxymic with their chemical car, Pramakarsa finally
entitled First Winner at the competition.
