The Behavior of Concrete Beam using Recycled Concrete as Coarse Aggregate

ABSTRAK

Having the large amount of waste concrete these days can lead to the environmental issue so that an effective management to this problem must be advisedly thought of One of rile methods is recycling rile waste concrete as a new material that can reduce the pollution and hopefi~llyc an also reduce the cost. In this study, waste concrete will be processed and used as coarse aggregate in nlaking reinforced concrete. A 2 meter beam of reinforced concrete using recycled coarse aggregate will be applied a single load in the middle of  span until  it reaches it smaximum capacity.Furthermore, the behaviors of normal reinforced concrete will be compared with that of new reinforced concrete using waste concrete as course aggregate with different percentages; 25%, 50% and 70%. The behaviors which will be determined in this study include deflection, flexural strength, pattern of crack and co~npressive strength. The result showed that these behavior of new reinforced concrete using waste concrete are alike with those in normal reinforced concrete. It is hoped that from the study, the usage of recycled coarse aggregate concrete in construction will be considered in future construction projects.
