PREVENTIVE CONSERVATION KAIN BATIK KERATON SURAKARTA
KUNO DI ICOM-CC 2017 COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

ICOM-CC adalah gelaran konferensi paling bergengsi dalam
dunia konservasi dan permuseuman. Acara trienal yang selalu
dipadati oleh insan permuseuman dunia kali ini diselenggarakan
di Copenhagen, Denmark. Dalam rangka merayakan konferensi
yang telah diselenggarakan ke 50 kali, ICOM-CC mengusung
topik “Linking Past and Future”. Untuk berpartisipasi dalam
gelaran ini, kelompok atau individu harus melewati tahap seleksi
dan pembahasan penelitian yang cukup sulit. Sangat beruntung,
Nicolaus Aji, salah satu pengajar dari Desain Interior, FSRD
ITENAS, dapat melalui seleksi tersebut, hingga dinyatakan lolos,
dan dapat berkesempatan untuk berpartisipasi dalam gelaran
tersebut. Dalam penelitiannya untuk ICOM-CC Copenhagen, ia
dan tim memfokuskan pada Preventive Conservation pada Kain
Batik Keraton Surakarta kuno. Dalam penelitian ini ia bekerja
sama dengan beberapa lembaga baik museum ataupun yang
berkaitan dengan konservasi tekstil. Penelitian ini bertujuan
untuk mendokumentasikan proses pembuatan motif kuno pada
batik keraton Surakarta yang sudah hampir punah. [Ina/Levita/

“PREVENTIVE CONSERVATION OF ANCIENT BATIK FABRICS OF
SURAKARTA PALACE” AT ICOM-CC 2017, COPENHAGEN - DENMARK

ICOM-CC is the most prestigious conference in the world of
conservation and museums. In 2017 the triennial event which
is always packed with worldwide museum and conservation
professionals, was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Celebrating
the 50th conference, the 2017’s ICOM-CC brought forward the
theme “Linking Past and Future”. To participate in this event,
groups or individuals must pass arduous stages involving research
selection and examination. Fortunately, Nicolaus Aji, one of the
academic staff of Interior Design Program at Itenas was able to
go through the strenuous stages. He was declared meeting the
qualifications thus granted the opportunity to participate in the
event. In the research presented at ICOM CC Copenhagen, he
with his team focused on Preventive Conservation of Surakarta
Palace’s Ancient Batic Fabrics. In carrying out the study, he
involved several institutions both museums as well as those
related to textile conservation. The investigation aimed at
documenting the process of ancient-motif making for Surakarta
