INNOVATION IN DIGITAL AND GEOSPATIAL ERA :
EXPERIENCE AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AT
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, US.
Rifqi Oktavianto, a student of 2017 cohort at Itenas Geodetic
Engineering Department was the 2019 Indonesian winner of
Esri Young Scholar Award (EYSA), a world-class competition in
the field of Geographic Information System (GIS) for university
students organized by each Esri branch in various countries.
His work which secured him a place at the international
spatial conference at San Diego is an agriculture web and
mobile application for coffee farming called TaniKopi. “This
app enable farmers as the target users of this app to digitally
and geospatially record their routine activities in managing
their coffee plantations while coffee farm tourists, as the
other target users of this app can promote the commodities
produced from the farmer’s coffee plantations. In so doing
it is hoped that direct trade between downstream industries
and farmers can be developed.” Rifqi’s achievement may
motivate other Itenas Bandung students to do their best.
Rifqi points out: “We have to always guard and strengthen
our vision and mission both todays as students and in the
future as whatever we are, because we believe that hard
work and innovation accompanied by prayers make those
vision and mission happen.” [IM]
